Of the various factors that contribute to our overall quality of life, the quality of the air we breathe must certainly be counted as one of the most important. With every inhalation, we provide our body with life-sustaining oxygen – which makes its way from our lungs into our bloodstream; and from there to every organ, tissue and cell.
Breathing is not something that we can do without. Regardless of how toxic the air might be, we’re compelled to breathe. It’s for this reason that we strive to live in places with less, rather than more, air pollution. And it’s for this reason that non-smokers can very legitimately complain about the effects of second-hand smoke: of smoke emitted from cigarettes that they themselves are not smoking – yet have no choice but to inhale, when doing this thing (breathing!) that they must necessarily do. Now the good thing about second-hand smoke is that it can fairly easily be detected, via our sense organs: It can be seen; and it can be smelled. And once we’ve been alerted to its presence in this way, we can at least potentially choose to remove ourselves from that environment – so in the future we’ll no longer have to be breathing it.
Manmade EMFs: All-Pervading Yet Invisible “Smoke”
Similar to second-hand smoke – yet potentially even more damaging to our health – is the “smog” generated by manmade EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies). While cigarette smoke is generally visible, or at least smell-able, EMFs are invisible – so much easier to miss. Yet to ignore their presence is to put our health in jeopardy.
How is it that manmade EMFs create problems for our human body?
The human nervous system depends in important ways upon the information provided by the Earth’s electromagnetic field. Manmade EMFs tend to disrupt this communication – this subtle connection with the Earth’s resonant field -- and hence disrupt the electromagnetic functioning of our nervous system and cellular metabolism, contributing to a variety of physical, mental and emotional maladies.
What exactly are these EMFs whose presence poses a threat to our health and wellbeing? And where do they come from?
Manmade EMFs are of two main types: The first is emitted from the AC grid of our home’s electrical system. And the second type is the microwave radiation generated via our cell phones and other WiFi mobile devices. Given recent increases among Australians in both tablet computer and cell phone use (did you know that, according to one survey, Australia has more mobile phones than people?!) it’s almost certain that your environment -- like most on the planet right now -- is infused with an invisible “smog” of manmade EMFs. That's the bad news.
The Good News About Manmade EMFs: How To Protect Yourself
The good news is that there are ways of reducing your exposure to manmade EMFs and/or neutralizing their effects. One very simple one is to get into the habit of turning off your laptop, phone and other devices when you go to sleep at night. When the device is turned completely off, it’s no longer transmitting damaging EMFs. Since our sleep-time is when the body goes into its “rest and regeneration” phase, it’s particularly important for the electromagnetic environment to be as clean as possible during this time.
Another solution is to invest in one or more EMF protection devices, which come in a variety of forms: There are bracelets and pendants that we can wear, which generate a protective field around our body, wherever we go. Other EMF protection devices are designed to be plugged into the outlets in our homes – to neutralize the emissions from the AC electrical grid and create a field of protection for ourselves, our pets, our friends and family members, and anyone else who happens to be in our house. And finally, there are some excellent devices to attach to our laptops and phones, which transform the damaging Wifi radiation into something that actually has healing effects on our bodies.
Whatever you do to decrease or neutralize the effects of manmade EMFs in your living environment is a step in the right direction, in terms of creating more comfort and ease at the level of your nervous system; nourishing the conditions for longevity; and increasing your overall quality of life.
